Job Requisition Begin Date 07/07/2025Position QualificationPosition SummaryThe Department of Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. Applicants must have a PhD degree with an emphasis in biochemistry, neonatology, biology or related field. This individual will conduct bench and translational cardiovascular research that will utilize in vitro and in vivo models of congenital heart defects. This individual will complete projects that require expertise in iPSC biology and derivation of terminal cell types, methods of molecular biology, gene transfer, gene editing, biochemistry, cell biology, cell culture, and vertebrate animal models, including genetically-engineered mice. The work will include generation, characterization, and validation of induced pluripotent stem cell lines. The projects will be directed by Dr. Ram Subramanyan. An emphasis will be placed on laboratory technical expertise, scientific experimental design, problem-solving abilities, collaborative skills, communication skills (written and oral), and grantsmanship. Prepares papers and grant proposals relating to this work and may present at conferences. The individual will work with other interdisciplinary team members to perform multifunctional studies.
