Priority Screening: July 30, 2025Position Summary: SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Instructor for the Impaired Driving Program (IDP) through Continuing Education.The IDP Instructor will co-teach the NYS DMV Impaired Driver Program for 16 hours over seven weeks with a second instructor. Courses are offered repeatedly throughout the year.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete weekly attendance roster.
- Instruct students utilizing the Prime for Life approved NYS OASAS/DMV approved Course Curriculum with a 2nd Instructor in a group setting.
- Review students’ driver license abstracts
- Collect and record course fees as needed.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Reports to the IDP Director
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must demonstrate at least 72 hours of verifiable experience counseling, teaching, or providing structured training/counseling in a group setting. The experience must have occurred in the five years prior to the application.
- The experience may be waived if the applicant holds a degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Strong communication skills and must be able to facilitate discussion-oriented instruction.
- Be of good moral character with no felony convictions and have a clean driver’s license.
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
- 3 years of verifiable experience counseling, teaching, or providing structured training/counseling in a group setting. The experience must have occurred in the five years prior to the application.
