Priority Screening: June 5, 2025Position Summary: SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructor for MathematicsThe STEM Department at SUNY Ulster is currently looking for adjunct instructors to cover multiple sections of mathematics courses including MAT-095 Introduction to Quantitative Reasoning, MAT-097 Introduction to Algebra, MAT-110 Quantitative Reasoning, and MAT-115 College Algebra & Trigonometry for the fall 2025 semester (August 25 – December 16). Course descriptions may be viewed in the SUNY Ulster Catalog at . This are in-person courses running at various days and times on the main Stone Ridge campus. We are not currently looking for distance online instructors in math.Under the supervision of Mathematics Coordinator and STEM Department Chair, adjunct instructors provide instruction in accordance with established course syllabi and departmental and college policies.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet each scheduled class and teach or conduct learning exercises for the entire period.
- Contact the appropriate division chair or administrator in advance to make arrangements for unavoidable absences.
- Provide each student, and the academic department, with a Course Outline derived from the official course syllabus at the beginning of the course. The outline will include contact information, topics covered, and information about how the student will be assessed as per departmental guidelines.
- Accurately keep required class records on attendance, withdrawal, and grading.
- Submit when due, all necessary reports such as attendance and grade reports, roll books, and class information sheets, and certify their accuracy.
- Comply with all institutional policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- Give careful attention to all departmental and administrative communications by checking your SUNY Ulster email frequently.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Appropriate teaching experience.
- Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
