
Design Technician I Engineering

- Collaborate with outside sales personnel and customers to accurately complete, safe and quality structures.
- Assures stability, deflection and load carries in a manner that will meet or surpass codes associated with each project.
- Follow quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance for the implementation of design standards.
- Confers with client, technical staff, and other Design Services personnel, and prepares design modifications as required.
- Develop and complete design details from original concept drawings and prepare layouts.
- Draws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence.
- Writes technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties.
- Review design(s) for most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and labor as time permits.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement.

- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- Six months to one-year related experience and/or training required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferably experience with PrimeCad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and sit, and occasionally required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
- The employee is regularly required to use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to quiet conditions, such as those in a library or private office.
