Summary:As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for increasing productivity via improving processes both human and machine or implementing entirely new ones, like robotic cells, power & free conveyors, and CNC fabrication equipment. This job is as much roll up your sleeves as it is sitting behind a computer. We seek someone who is excited about all the opportunities as we are!What we’re looking for:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in TPS environments improving processes, preferably in metal fabrication, welding and painting operations.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining machinery to automate processes. You’ve put in complex systems and got them to run at rate. You know how hard this is, how vendors exaggerate performance, how badly company leaders want it to be true. You love this challenge!
  • Love of all things Kaizen, from plant-level events that layout workflow to reduce travel, to facilitating problem solving at a workstation, to ensuring implementation via follow up. You can’t walk past a process without a new idea.
  • Interest in ability in conducting time studies and analyzing bills of materials. You find yourself always asking, “What’s that thing really cost?”
  • Understand or want to get deep into powder painting, welding, automated conveyor systems, and controls.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing, kaizen and root cause analysis to support innovation and improvements.
  • Justify, specify, project manage, install, and continuously improve new equipment including welding and painting systems.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement project for current equipment and processes.
  • Recommend and implement process and product changes.
Requirements:
  • 5 or more years’ experience in engineering
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD and MS Office, especially Excel
  • In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles
