Job SummaryThe RD Educator of Clinical Nutrition and Lactation Services will be responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of staff orientation and training. The RD Educator coaches, trains and evaluates knowledge and skills of all staff and participates in the selection of new staff. Has faculty appointments at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. The RD Educator is responsible for performing all duties of the staff clinical nutritionist including planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating nutrition care appropriate for age and disease of pediatric patients within the defined scope of practice.As RD educator, in order to carry out the specific responsibilities, the mission, vision and values of the Heath System must be ever present.EducationFor nutrition educator, a minimum of 6-12 months work experience in CHS Department of Clinical Nutrition and Lactation Services and the recommendation of team members is required in addition to the minimum qualifications of clinical nutritionist as follows:Bachelors’ degree in a health-related field from a CDR-accredited program is required. Master’s degree in a health-related field or business administration is preferred. Must have at least 3 years of clinical experience in pediatric health care delivery and certification in an area of specialization (CSP, CSR, CNSD, CDE, or IBCLC) with a Bachelor’s degree OR - 2 years clinical experience in pediatric health care delivery with a Master’s degree.ExperienceSupervisory experience preferred, but not required. Completion of a pediatric nutrition traineeship is preferred, but not required. Certification in an area of specialization is preferred with a Master’s degree, but not required.Licensures, Certifications, and/or RegistriesLicensed by the State Board of Examiners for Dietetics/Nutrition Practice in the State of Alabama Registered Dietitian by the commission of Dietetics RegistrationAdditional Info:Main Campus Children's of Alabama
