Description:HOOVER CITY SCHOOLSJOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Child Nutrition Program ManagerREPORTS TO: Principal/Director of CNPJOB GOAL: To run the daily operation of the cafeteria in compliance with Hoover City Schools Child Nutrition Program Department, USDA, local, state and federal policies, procedures, rules, regulations and guidelinesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ experience in food service or a child nutrition program (management experience preferred)
  • A genuine desire to serve quality meals to students
  • Ability to proficiently use current technology
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • NRA ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certified
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may require
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities
  • Supervises the day-to-day operation of assigned CNP kitchen and staff
  • Maintains professional appearance and dress appropriate for school food service program (uniform, hair net/hats, closed-toe shoes with non-skid sole, etc.)
  • Models and encourages CNP employees to observe high standards of grooming, safety, and effective work habits
  • Instructs employees in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment
  • Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Checks food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified
  • Determines the quantities of each food to be prepared daily according to guidelines provided
  • Prepares work schedules and specific assignments for employees
  • Assures that all students are served prescribed portions
  • Prepares food according to the approved menu using prescribed recipes and verifies final product meets acceptable standards before it is served
  • Oversees the security of food storage areas as well as exterior doors
  • Orders on a weekly and biweekly basis all necessary food and supplies
  • Reports immediately to the principal and director any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or on the cafeteria premises
  • Reports to the child nutrition program director any damaged, spoiled, or inferior quality food which is received
  • Supervises the proper daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils
  • Maintains adequate and accurate records and controls to include: personnel, financial, inventories, operational reports, records, purchasing of food supplies, equipment and daily bank deposits
  • Cooperates with health officials, supporting all local and state public health laws and codes
  • Participates and promotes in-service training, conferences, and continuing education programs for self and other child nutrition program personnel
  • Maintains files of standardized recipes and instructs personnel in use of recipes
  • Performs duties in a manner that promotes good public relations
  • Receives suggestions from students, parents, and faculty regarding program improvements and incorporates such suggestions into the child nutrition program in such a manner consistent with good nutritional standards
  • Provides nutrition education for students to promote health and wellness
  • Performs food testing and acceptance surveys
  • Maintains and monitors employee time and attendance
  • Conducts Professional Growth Assessments for employees and assistant managers on a yearly basis
  • Maintains emergency supplies
  • Monitors meal services and provides student assistance with account issues
  • Reports to work as scheduled and clocks in and out on time
  • Assists with approval and verification process for free and reduced meal applications
  • Implements a safe and sanitary work environment by following HACCP Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Maintains confidentiality of any school system related business
  • Maintains communication with school administrators regarding department changes or services
  • Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
