SummaryThe Safety Manager contributes to overall company safety by maintaining a current and thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local regulations; promotes continuous safety awareness and accident prevention through development and implementation of training programs; partners with management to mitigate and reduce accidents, injuries, and property damage. Monitors and enforces Kamco's Safety Program at all branches. Works closely with the Fleet Manager to ensure compliance throughout the company.Duties / Responsibilities
  • Plans, implements, and maintains Kamco's Safety Program through the maintenance and development of appropriate safety policies and procedures in compliance with Federal, Sate, and Local regulators and General Contractor requirements.
  • Performs site Visits to delivery locations to monitor enforcement of safety requirements, including Kamco Safety Program, OSHA/DOT requirements and GC Safety Programs.
  • Ride along with each driver to ensure proper understanding of safety policies, as well as observe compliance with OSHA/DOT regulations.
  • Branch Visits to all Kamco branches monthly for risk assessment inspections, safety Meetings, OSHA inspections, training, and compliance.
  • Training requirements - one-on-one training as well as group training sessions to include, but not limited to: New Hire, Forklift Certs, Fall Protection, Laborer specific, Personal Protective Equipment, Moffett and ABL classroom training.
  • Work closely with Fleet Manager, Branch Managers, Branch Operations Managers, Safety Chairs, Corporate Safety Team, and Branch Staff to promote an elevated level of safety preparedness, accident prevention, and safety awareness.
  • Leads accident prevention initiative through investigating accidents, identifying root causes of accidents and hazards, developing preventive measures and practices, working with managerial and supervisor staffs, conferring with insurance carriers, and preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Participate in branch monthly safety meetings, working with branch safety chairs to ensure coordination and participation as required. Participate and develop presentations for year-end safety meetings and any additional companywide meetings.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years' experience working with OSHA / DOT regulations or in the field of Safety or
  • Occupational/Industrial Hygiene.
  • Position requires travel to include, but not limited to: Kamco branches located in four states, local job sites, and outside training as required.
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently and effectively in a challenging environment; and to work with all levels of staff.
  • Experience in Building Materials Warehousing / Transportation a plus.
  • Will Train qualified college graduates holding a safety degree.
