The Director of Wellness (Nursing) plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of our Resident direct care department in accordance with current State and local standards, guidelines, regulations that govern our community, and as may be directed by the Executive Director and owner, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. As the Director of Nursing, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out the resident care policies established by this community.The Manor is an equal opportunity employer. implement, evaluate, and direct the Resident Care Department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the assisted living community.*Assist the Executive Director to develop, maintain, and periodically update the community's Policy & Procedures Manual.*Develop methods for coordination of direct and health care services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care.*Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting as necessary.*Make available written nursing material, medication books and State Regulations that will assist the direct care staff in meeting the day-to-day needs of the resident.*Participate in ongoing quality assurance program for the Resident Care department.*Assist the Executive Director in developing, implementing and periodically updating the resident direct/health care service plan.*Participate in survey inspections made by authorized government agencies.*Make written and oral reports and recommendations to the Executive Director, as necessary or required, concerning the operation of the Resident Care Department.*Work in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing area (i.e., drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms)*Be involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, under all conditions and circumstances.*Keep involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.*Periodically review and audit the resident's chart, as required by State and Fed regulations.*Assist the Executive Director in planning the nursing services for residents.*Meet with the nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the department's services, programs, up-dates, in-services, and activities.*Admit, transfer, and discharge residents, if needed.*Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the community (Safety, QA, Pharmaceutical, Weight, Falls) as required, and as appointed by the Executive Director.*Provide written and/or oral reports of the Resident Care programs and activities as required, or as may be directed by such committees.*Assist the Executive Director and Pharmacy Services in developing, maintaining, implementing and periodically updating written policies and procedures for the administration, storage, and control of medications and supplies.*Participate in regular review of the Service Plans.*Evaluate and implement recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to direct and health care services.*Attend department and staff meetings.*Determine the staffing needs of the direct and health care services department necessary to meet the total care needs of the residents.*Assign the required number of direct care staff for each tour of duty to ensure that routine direct and/or health care is provided to meet the daily care needs of each resident.*Make daily rounds of the direct and health care services department to ensure that all direct care staff are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable care standards.*Monitor absenteeism to ensure that an adequate number of direct care staff is on duty at all times.*Recruit, interview and select Resident Care personnel.*Counsel/discipline direct and health care personnel as necessary.*Terminate employees when necessary, documenting and coordinating such action with the Executive Director.*Review complaints and grievances producing appropriate documentation.*Ensure that all LPNs and CNAs on each shift comply with written procedures for the administration, documentation, storage, and control of medications and supplies.*Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled.*Review mars for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of physician orders, and adherence to stop order policies.*Assess new residents prior to admission by completing the Pre-Admit/Screening form, this is a regulatory requirement.*Visit residents in hospital and/or nursing home, SNF/Rehab, and assess their ability to meet AL criteria prior to return to community.*Participate in developing, planning, conduction, and scheduling in-service training classes that provide instructions on how to do the job, and ensure a well-educated nursing service department.*Recommend to the Executive Director the equipment and supply needs of the department.*Ensure that adequate stock levels of medical supplies, equipment are maintained on premises at all times to adequately meet the needs of the residents.QUALIFICATIONS*must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate from an approved RN program.*Applicant must have a minimum 2 year(s) of experience as a supervisor in a hospital or, long-term care community, or other related healthcare community.*should possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state. *Applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check and must also meet all local health/state requirements, including Drug and TB test.
