Job Title: Medical Laboratory TechnologistLocation: Keesler Medical Center, Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS 39534Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 40 hours per week; 8Hrs Shift (0700 1800 with 1-hour lunch). May include variable shifts during blood drives (0300 2359) to meet mission needs.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field from an accredited institution.Experience: Minimum of 2 years' recent experience (within the past 36 months) in a laboratory accredited by a CMS-approved organization (CAP, COLA, AABB, DNV, TJC, etc.). Experience performing whole blood collection, processing, and laboratory testing.License/Certification:Certification/registration by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC.Valid Mississippi State Class D Light Commercial Driver's License (must be obtained within 3 months of employment).Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.Responsibilities:Perform advanced diagnostic laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, immunology, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.Ensure compliance with Armed Services Blood Program Division (ASBPD) directives, federal regulations, and local SOPs.Conduct whole blood collection, manufacturing, and processing for donor programs; perform donor briefing, vitals, interview, phlebotomy, and care.Accurately record donor and patient information in laboratory information systems while maintaining confidentiality.Monitor donors for reactions during blood collection and provide appropriate care.Prepare, label, and distribute blood components (RBCs, plasma, platelets) ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.Perform quality control checks on equipment, reagents, and procedures; troubleshoot and coordinate maintenance as needed.Train and mentor laboratory staff, technicians, and phlebotomy personnel.Maintain a safe and clean working environment; comply with infection control and safety standards.Travel with the mobile donor team to support local and off-base blood drives (Maxwell AFB, Pensacola NAS, Gulfport CB Center, Stennis Space Center).Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and fellow lab staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic support.Participate in proficiency testing, research, validation, and implementation of new laboratory methods or equipment.Provide reports and maintain required documentation for accreditation and regulatory agencies.Prime Physicians is a physician-led, The Joint Commission (TJC) Accredited, ISO 9001 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised organization.
