
Controls Engineer

- Commission and re-commission Building Automation Systems at customer sites.
- Perform static and dynamic commissioning of software programming across standalone and networked systems.
- Ensure full system functionality from controllers to sensors, including software loading and third-party integration.
- Diagnose and resolve complex system issues; provide guidance to peers and subcontractors.
- Interface with customer IT teams for network setup, alarms, trends, and reporting.
- Calibrate systems using electronic test equipment such as multimeters, laptops, and network terminals.
- Deliver turnkey solutions for medium to large projects, including large multi-zone AHUs with VFDs and multi-coil configurations, complex chilled water systems with three or more boilers, EPMS, and third-party network integrations.
- Maintain accurate As-Built documentation using EDS, Visio, Excel, and Word.
- Complete all required commissioning paperwork, including timesheets, expense reports, work orders, and status updates.
- Serve as the primary point of contact on-site; communicate progress and concerns clearly.
- Conduct site-specific training for owners/operators on system functionality.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and escalate scope issues to project managers.
- Lead and mentor junior Field Engineers on tools, technology, and best practices.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support cost estimation for semi-complex projects.
- Assist in transitioning completed projects to the Service Department.
- Uphold high safety standards for self and subcontractors.
- Maintain a daily log of job-related activities and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
- Proven experience in Building Automation Systems and controls engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in commissioning tools and documentation software.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Field service experience.
- Experience with multimeters and calibration.
- PLC programming and commissioning.
- 3+ years of controls-related experience.
- Engineering degree preferred.
- Commissioning experience is a plus.
- Experience with tools such as WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, ViewBuilder, LogicBuilder, InterOp 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, Supervision, and Accel Works.
