Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Elecetrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Must have past leadership experience, including cost, scheduling and technical management.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.Responsibilities for this PositionAs a DPME, you will lead, evaluate, mentor, and motivate a multi-disciplined engineering team consisting of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers etc. You are expected to accomplish the following Key Performance Objectives.Key Performance Objectives:
  • Work closely with the Senior Engineering Leadership, Chief Engineers and Business Area Managers to plan, authorize, and monitor the engineering work (including providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned).
  • Oversee program technical performance (aligned with cost, scope, and schedule) for all engineering efforts to ensure project requirements are validated, integrated, tested, and verified, resulting in high quality deliverables that meet or exceed all technical and schedule requirements.
  • Staff the project team (along with the Senior Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering) with the appropriate engineering personnel. This requires both assigning the best mix of talent to the project and identifying and developing succession candidates for key roles.
  • Develop and maintain engineering plans, risks, and opportunities, follow change management processes, and ensure all engineering processes adhere to GDMS standards and practices throughout the life of the project as required by the project, engineering or the business area.
  • Conduct monthly engineering status reviews and provide material for monthly program reviews. Implement effective corrective actions as required.
  • Manage the resolution of technical issues, communicate the resolution to all affected parties, and ensure that the resolution is carried out in all affected artifacts and documented so that the rationale behind the resolution can be shared across other programs or be reviewed if required at a later date.
  • Motivate the engineering team and provide a clear understanding of project goals. Reward the team members that drive the success of the project. Provide performance feedback and management for the project team. Take immediate and decisive action (both positive and corrective) in dealing with technical and performance issues.
  • Manage engineering resources (e.g., staff assignments, capital equipment, etc.), organizational interfaces, and engineering scope.
  • Provide input to the engineering leadership for potential areas of Research and Development
  • Participate and nominate other members of the engineering team to lead lunch time learning, “brown bag lunches” or other internal technical exchanges to provide growth and mentorship opportunities to all levels of the engineering talent base.
