Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details
  • Location: Baltimore, MD 21201 (Maryland healthcare jobs)
  • Facility Setting: Hospital – NICU/PICU, Level 4 NICU, Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Position Type: Travel Contract Respiratory Therapist
  • Start Date: September 22, 2025
  • End Date: December 22, 2025
  • Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
  • Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1780-$1910
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (based on preference)
  • Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • On Call: Not required
Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU/PICU focus
  • Active Maryland or Compact RRT license (must be valid at time of application)
  • Required certifications: RRT, BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP (NRP or AAP)
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records system preferred
  • Previous charge therapist and trauma experience preferred
  • Ability to float within hospital departments as needed
  • Two professional references required (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN)
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the Baltimore facility
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced respiratory care to neonates, pediatric, and adult patients in critical care settings
  • Perform and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs); manage ventilators including Maquet Servo i, Draeger V500, jet ventilation, oscillation, and nitric oxide systems
  • Assist in high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
  • Deliver care for patients with respiratory distress syndrome, ARDS, cystic fibrosis, and other complex respiratory diagnoses
  • Administer respiratory medications and therapies such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Pulmicort, Xopenex, and Flovent
  • Perform intubations (neonatal and pediatric), extubations, and comprehensive airway management
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with the healthcare team
  • Accurately document all care and interventions in the Epic EMR system
  • Float to other hospital units as required, within your clinical scope
