- Willingness to travel to challenging environments, and perform duties in physically demanding and uncomfortable conditions aboard naval vessels (surface), military installations, or remote field sites.
- Readiness for travel, up to 5-10% or more, both domestically and internationally. This includes the ability to deploy aboard naval vessels (surface) or to remote forward operating bases in different environments.
- Must be comfortable and capable of working in challenging and often uncomfortable conditions, such as noisy machinery, confined spaces, elevated heights, extreme temperatures (hot/cold), wet or humid environments, and areas with fumes, dust, or vibrations.
- Physical readiness is a prerequisite, necessitating the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 50 lbs., and to stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are required for operating tools and equipment.
- The ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, and steel-toed boots, is mandatory.
- Adaptability and flexibility to navigate rapidly changing priorities and environments, along with the capacity for problem solving under pressure, making sound engineering decisions in stress or resource-constrained situations.
- High resilience and stress tolerance are essential for performing effectively in physically uncomfortable, isolated, noisy, or hazardous environments for extended periods.
- Must be self-motivated, proactive, and possess strong communication skills for effective interaction with diverse teams.
- A collaborative team player with an unwavering commitment to safety, meticulous attention to detail, and a high degree of integrity and professionalism consistent with military values is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Junior Level: 0-3 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-op programs, or academic projects with a strong emphasis on hands-on application, design, or testing, is required.
- Mid-level roles demand 3-7 years of progressive professional experience, preferably within defense or maritime sectors, or alternatively, a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrate a robust understanding of core mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, materials science, machine design, and system dynamics.
- Proven abilities in troubleshooting and diagnosing complex mechanical issues in real-world operational environments
- Strong design and analysis skills, including proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CREO), basic understanding of FEA, and the ability to interpret and create technical drawings and schematics.
