DescriptionThe Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a Maintenance Specialist 4 for the . In this role, you will direct daily maintenance activities, coordinate projects, and ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and reliable.This position is hands-on and team focused. You will schedule and track service requests, provide guidance to staff, and ensure work is carried out effectively and on time. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in a 24/7 facility that provides mental health treatment services for adults. The role requires strong technical ability, attention to safety, and the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions.Please note: The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday - Friday 6:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.SCC employees also receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to advertised salary and a free ORCA card for transportation use. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees.Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you'll do
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Keep records of work and prepare reports as required.
  • Review, write, and schedule service and maintenance requests.
  • Assist staff with completing service requests and provide training when needed.
  • Follow up on inquiries and complaints to ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinate projects and maintenance activities with the Facility Manager.
  • Participate in inspections and collect data to determine repairs and costs.
  • Conduct surveys, analyze systems, and prepare reports on facility needs.
  • Lead safety and training meetings for staff.
Who should apply? Those with:
Three years full-time experience as a journey trades worker, or equivalent, including one year of full-time experience as a lead or supervisor.
AND
A valid Washington State driver's license.Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities we are looking for:

  • Safety awareness - Follow safety practices and help others do the same.
  • Adaptability - Adjust to shifting schedules, priorities, and emergency conditions.
  • Professionalism - Work respectfully with staff and residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
  • Capacity to perform the physical functions of the role - Lift equipment and materials, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
