This position works closely with the Library Program Chair. The Undergraduate Research Librarian acts as a liaison to the college's Baccalaureate programs, partnering with these programs in research, collection building and instruction. This librarian partners with program staff and faculty, as well as Library colleagues, in the use of Library resources in varying approaches and modalities.Pay, Benefits & Work ScheduleAnnual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $67,712.30; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $72,604.27 unless exceptional circumstances prevail.We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components.   • Collaborate with RISE Learning Institute and other campus partners to develop and expand undergraduate research support.
  • Participate in the Washington Consortium for Undergraduate Research and Equity.
  • Create learning objects on undergraduate research for courses as needed, including but not limited to LibGuides, and Canvas modules.
Baccalaureate Program Support
  • Connect with the baccalaureate programs and campus community at large to demonstrate and promote the role of the library in instruction and student success
  • Coordinate with campus departments in the acquisition of funding for, recommendation of, and selection of resources for Bachelors' program
  • Participate in reviewing and de-selecting resources from the collection
  • Connect with Washington State Board and Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) school libraries regarding support for baccalaureate programs
Reference and Instruction
  • Teach library instruction using various approaches and modalities to a diverse and pluralistic student body, focusing on baccalaureate programs
  • Teach and assess library instruction using various approaches and modalities for a diverse student body
  • Provide specialized reference and instructional support to Bachelors' students in 300 and 400 level courses including but not limited to the health sciences, marketing, computer science & technology, molecular bioscience, and Interior Design
  • Develop a variety of equitable instructional tools to support students with universal design for learning principles
  • Foster a learning environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are advanced
  • Provide culturally competent individual reference services
Outreach & Campus
  • Connect with the campus community to demonstrate and promote the role of the library in instruction and student success
  • Liaise with an assigned division to serve as a communication bridge between the division and the library
  • Participate in college-wide efforts to dismantle barriers that can impact members of historically marginalized groups including women, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), those with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, those who have served in the military, and members of other underrepresented communities.
  • Collaborate with Library colleagues to support Library goals and initiatives
Professional Development
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in professional organizations, workshops, conferences, reading journals and taking courses
  • Participate in professional development activities related to the scholarship of teaching and learning, learning theory, equity in the classroom, and education
  • Maintain current knowledge and practical skills in cultural competency
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an American Library Associate (ALA) accredited institution
  • One (1) year experience in a professional library setting
  • Experience providing instruction, reference or research consultation services, or workshops
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning of students/colleagues from diverse backgrounds and levels of readiness
  • Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English (Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Japanese, Amharic, Somali, Ukranian, or American Sign Language)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others across disciplines/fields, with a team focus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience supporting upper-level baccalaureate student reference
  • Ability to build supportive relationships with students and staff from varied ethnicity, gender, age, background, learning style, and ability, and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment
  • Experience in integrating diversity, pluralism, and inclusion into library practices, or equivalent transferrable skills
  • Experience evaluating library resources and making recommendations for selecting/acquiring or withdrawing
  • Experience supporting health science, business, marketing, interior design or technology students and programs
