DescriptionSenior Engineers work as part of a multi-discipline team managing the comprehensive development of mechanical engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. This position will lead a production team of mechanical engineers and plumbing designers, manage workload distribution, and be responsible for the quality of the technical services provided. Assignments will include performing design calculations, interpreting and preparing reports, preparing cost estimates, and producing deliverable drawing sets for site plans, HVAC plans, piping plans, controls diagrams, details, schematics, and schedules.Job SummaryThe Senior Project Engineer II manages all phases of engineering projects and developing innovative solutions-from concept through design to execution. This role is accountable to provide expertise to staff and can be relied upon to make recommendations for technical and design solutions.Job Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts on key projects as lead engineer responsible for the overall vision, quality and implementation. Partner with leadership to vision, plan and implement strategic initiatives, quality requirements and policy.
  • Provides leadership and guidance for staff on project assignments. Manages and perform system design, including calculations, equipment selection, layout, and drawing preparation. Lead and contribute to overall engineering analysis and solutions.
  • Plan and conduct evaluation and site observation. Perform Quality Control for projects by reviewing project documents, specifications, and design options; ensure code compliance through meetings and reviews. Make recommendations based on findings. Apply standard engineering practices and software tools to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Conduct site investigations and technical research to support design decisions. Evaluate and mitigate project risk.
  • Build and develop internal and external relationships
RequirementsRequired Education & Experience
  • ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in mechanical engineering on a wide variety of projects within the A/E industry
  • Large project experience required. Project experience in healthcare and/or federal work is preferred
  • Mechanical PE license required
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards (Energy, LEED, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit MEP and AutoCAD required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using load, system sizing, and energy modeling software required
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and distribute workload and lead a production team of mechanical engineers and designers
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
