About the Opportunity:
GPAC is actively recruiting on behalf of a well-established steel fabrication and erection company known for delivering high-quality structural and miscellaneous metalwork. We are seeking an experienced Steel Estimator to support pre-construction efforts by preparing accurate and competitive bids for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.This is a full-time, direct-hire position offering strong growth potential and the opportunity to work with a collaborative, detail-oriented team.Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals (e.g., stairs, railings, catwalks).
  • Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Perform material takeoffs and generate accurate quantity estimates.
  • Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing for materials and services.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating software to generate proposals and bid packages.
  • Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering discussions.
  • Track project changes and adjust estimates accordingly.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in steel fabrication and/or erection.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals is required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
  • Comfortable using industry-related software such as Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol, or similar platforms.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred, not required).
  • Field experience in steel erection or fabrication is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with project management workflows and fabrication processes.
