About the Opportunity:
GPAC has partnered with a reputable and fast-growing steel fabrication and erection company that delivers high-quality structural and miscellaneous metal projects across commercial and industrial markets. Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Steel Project Manager to oversee projects from contract award through final installation.This is a direct-hire position with a stable and well-respected company offering long-term career potential and a strong pipeline of upcoming work.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all phases of structural and miscellaneous steel projects, including stairs, railings, catwalks, platforms, etc.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams, and field crews.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with scope and deliverables.
  • Track progress, resolve issues, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with estimating and detailing teams for change orders and revisions.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing projects in steel fabrication, erection, or both.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Proficient in project management and construction software, including Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol (or similar).
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Previous hands-on experience in steel fabrication or erection is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with field operations, fabrication workflows, and change order processes.
