
General Manager-Heavy Civil Construction

- Lead day-to-day operations across construction, aggregate, asphalt, and ready-mix business units
- Develop and implement strategic business plans, including financial forecasting and labor planning
- Oversee project execution to ensure quality, safety, and budget compliance
- Monitor bidding activity and materials pricing for competitive positioning
- Partner with safety and environmental teams to ensure full compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and DNR regulations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers while identifying new growth opportunities
- Collaborate with estimators and engineers to assess project selection, pricing, and performance
- Oversee capital investment, plant and equipment maintenance, and operational readiness
- Build and maintain an organizational structure that supports long-term success
- Lead with integrity, vision, and a focus on building strong, engaged teams
- Travel as required, occasionally on short notice and for extended durations
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
- OR 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, 15+ years preferred
- At least 5 years in progressive leadership or management roles
- Proven ability to manage complex operations and diverse teams
- Strong knowledge of:
- Civil construction and grading
- Asphalt paving and sales
- Aggregate production and installation
- Ready-mix concrete operations
- Quality control and materials testing
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and business systems
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience in employee development, training, and performance management
- Solid grasp of financial planning, estimating, and market analysis
