We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.Where and how you can workOur flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, but we've made our way from down under, to a hub San Francisco, which is now home to our US operations.About the roleWe currently have two opportunities for Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting that span across the following areas of focus:The first is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the monthly and quarterly close processes for the balance sheet accounting team. You will focus on all key balance sheet accounts including leases, intangible assets and PPE, supporting all change management and policies that safeguard our general ledger and financial reporting structures in this space.The second is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the monthly and quarterly close processes for the intercompany and multi-book accounting team. You will focus on intercompany eliminations as well as facilitating tax accounting and local GAAP adjustments and eliminations. In addition, you'll be responsible for overseeing all of general ledger controllership and facilitation of the close process for the Finance Operations and Accounting teams. You will focus on all reporting structure and system integration requirements both up and downstream to the accounting close process and ERP.Your expertise and leadership will play a pivotal role in evolving Canva's capabilities in this space, while ensuring that our processes and policies support the scale and complexity of a rapidly-expanding company.What you'd be doing in this roleAs Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.At the moment, this role is focused on:
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards required across the Group.
  • Lead and mentor a team of high-performing accountants, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard our accounting and close processes and enhance the reliability of financial information.
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks, providing recommendations for improvements and optimization.
  • Support collaboration across departments to enhance cross-functional understanding of financial processes and outcomes.
  • Streamline and optimize financial processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and lead implementation efforts to ensure the scalability of financial operations.

  • You have demonstrated success in managing and scaling Corporate Accounting processes through rapid growth in a public company environment, with a proven ability to develop and support the execution of effective strategies.
  • You have strong leadership and team management skills with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.
  • You can effectively collaborate with cross functional teams to drive business process transformation and change management through your craft expertise and communication style.
  • You have extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures and controls that are SOX compliant.
  • You have proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with ERP systems is a plus.

The target salary range for this position is $198,000 - $259,000.
