This role offers the flexibility and convenience of fully remote work, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the United States.The PCB Design team at Viasat performs the PCB layout for all the space, flight, and ground systems Viasat delivers. Exciting challenges await with each new design as you work as part of our Engineering teams that are constantly pushing the innovation boundaries! The day-to-day:As part of Viasat's CAD team, you will perform PCB design work including component placement, complex routing, DRC and DFM checks and documentation. Some of the daily tasks will involve using Siemens (formerly Mentor Graphics) Xpedition or Zuken Design Force layout tools. Your design work will follow IPC standards, as well as company and contract manufacturing guidelines. As a Designer, you will participate in design entry and exit reviews ensuring adherence to standards and processes. You will review data from Viasat’s Mechanical Engineering team to ensure the interface between these two databases is consistent. In addition, you will manage the CAD file data, produce all output documentation for fabrication and assembly, and will work with other team members at all sites to ensure the creation of high-quality PCBs. What you'll need:7+ years of experience doing PCB design.3+ years of direct experience using Siemens Xpedition or Zuken CR-8000. * Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.Thorough understanding of PCB fabrication processes, tolerances, and IPC standards.Experience with Digital, RF/Analog, or mixed PCB Layouts.Schematic capture experience.Experience working closely with mechanical engineering to define board profiles, technology, and board stack-ups.Knowledgeable with product documentation including fabrication & assembly, PLM system.U.S. Citizenship required. What will help you on the job:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Multi-layer Flex and Rigid-flex circuits.
  • Complex Multi-layer PWB utilizing high speed materials, featuring micro strip, strip line and differential routing, controlled impedance, mix of low noiseRF/analog circuitry.
  • Digital designs with various pin count and fine pitch BGA’s, RF transmission lines, matched lengths, delay control lengths.
  • Experience with JTAG, RGMI, DSP, DDR, LVDS, SERDES and ethernet design.
  • RF layout development with partitioning of circuits utilizing shields, specific mounting, and grounding requirements. All design criteria defined by engineering specifications.
  • Knowledgeable with hierarchical schematics and layout re-use schemes.
Salary range: $94,000.00 - $148,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $116,500.00- $174,500.00/ annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
