- As a trusted subject matter expert, the consultant will support projects for payer systems and applications by creating technical and business process designs, performing analysis, writing requirements, conducting workstream sessions, fostering healthy client relationships, and taking ownership of deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Major contributor to team problem solving across full scope of project
- Able to structure and drive team working sessions (e.g., problem solving, discovery) with assistance from Project Manager
- Establish self as knowledgeable/credible on topics
- Knowledgeable on Optum data sets and tools and carries foundational understanding of health care industry dynamics
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Health Care research, tools, and assets used by the practice to support client work
- Establish timeline for workstream and assist junior staff, in accordance with overall project requirements
- Lead or participate in various practice development projects
- Provide active role in improving business processes, knowledge management, etc. within the practice
- Proactively anticipate challenges and risks in both own area and those of more junior staff and make sound adjustments/recommendations to address issues
- Communicates effectively and accurately in writing and verbally to prospects, members and other team members
- 5+ years of healthcare payer operations and technology experience
- 5+ years of experience in technical analysis, including writing specifications (requirements, user stories) and data mapping documents for Facets or Core Administration system implementation projects
- 5+ years of experience in technical design and / or business process flow diagrams
- 5+ years of writing SQL queries and performing analysis
- 2+ years of external client facing consulting experience at a consulting firm
- 2+ years of client relationship management experience
- Experience working with at least one core administration systems such as Facets, QNXT, Health Rules Payer, Tapestry and knowledge of the data model
- Experience leading a project or workstream in an agile environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel - and Visio
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate challenges and provide solutions
- Proven ability to drill down to the root cause of issues and be creative in problem solving
- Willingness to travel domestically, up to 25% depending on project requirements
- Experience working on at least one end-to-end payer systems and application implementations or migration project
- Experience with any / all of the following applications: MS Project, Smartsheet, Service Now, Jira, Rally
- Experience working with payer systems and / or applications in a cloud environment
- Experience working in and successfully navigating a matrixed environment
- Proven to possess analytical reasoning and solution-focus problem solving
- Proven ability to participate in cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
