- Manage the planning, scoping, bid evaluations, consultants, and execution of environmental assessments and water conveyance and sediment erosion engineering studies associated with the development of the Kings Mountain Lithium project.
- Lead the safety culture for all field activities related to hydro-projects.
- Provide expert-level consultation and technical management of complex hydro-projects, including monitoring, drilling, aquifer testing, dewatering, erosion and sediment controls, water balances and drain-down predictions, contaminant assessments, adaptive water management programs and active/passive mitigation strategies and for the design, execution, operation and closure phases of the mine life (Life of Mine).
- Manage the development of conceptual and numerical surface and groundwater modeling to support assessment of potential impacts from a variety of mine development alternatives and mitigation actions to minimize environmental and social impacts.
- Oversight and consultant management of the preparation of applicable county, state, and federal regulatory permit applications (water resources focus such as sediment and erosion engineering). This includes short- and long-term permitting that will be required for mitigation projects such as water management/treatment including their relevant SoPs.
- Provide a review/audit perspective for current operations/projects working closely with the Geotechnical Governance role.
- Serve as a thought leader in the hydro-domain, identifying trends, innovations, and best practices to ensure the continuous improvement of the organization’s technical strategy.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and geoscientists fostering professional growth and skills development.
- Represent the company in conferences, seminars, and industry events enhancing the company’s reputation as a leader in the Lithium space.
- When required, support the development of internal policy and standards related to environmental management, water stewardship and sustainability.
- Engineering degree in water resources/similar or Bachelors in hydrology/similar with professional certification/licensure in active/good standing. MEng or MSc considered an asset.
- 15+ years proven track record leading water resources projects in mining or industrial setting at the (pre)feasibility, detailed design and execution and operational level.
- Proficiency in hydraulic and hydro-geological modeling (eg, HEC-RAS/HMS, MODFLOW, Goldsim, Excel, etc.) for the design, operation or closure of mine components.
- Alternative and trade-off assessments for the water management of mine components such as waste rock/tailings storage, pit/underground dewatering and conveyance/sediment/storage.
- Groundwater and surface water resource monitoring, characterization, management including hydrologic/climatic assessments for component design criteria.
- Demonstrated experience with environmental regulations, risk assessments, management plans, and compliance requirements.
- Regulatory engagement at the local, state and federal permitting level (eg, NEPA, NPDES, etc)
- Awareness of environmental geochemical contaminant risks are considered an asset.
- Developing closure/reclamation plans and associated costs/bonding are considered an asset.
- Experience with community stakeholder engagement considered and asset.
- Strong oral/written Spanish considered an asset.
