This position is for a First Line Support Production Engineer with an innovative mindset to join the Production Engineering department at our Wilton Factory. The candidate will collaborate across sectors to provide rapid response to resolve disturbance notices related to engineering issues and execute the engineering steps listed in the Production Operator Dashboard (POD) to support output.Role and responsibilitiesSpend approximately 75% of time in the Cleanroom providing direct support to production processes and troubleshootingProvide efficient response to troubleshoot optical alignment and metrology issuesProvide efficient response to troubleshoot module test and final qualification issuesProvide efficient response to troubleshoot manufacturing tooling and optical metrology equipment issuesPerform re-computation of the nominal optical designCorrect optical aberrationsRun image processing algorithms to extract nanometer-level flatness information from interferometer dataAnalyze MATLAB scripts and plot data from databasesSupport query code to interrogate data for manufacturing needsConduct image analysis and derive conclusionsDevelop OCAPs, Fishbone diagrams, and troubleshooting guidelinesSupport diagnostics qualification and implementation for production staffEvaluate and disposition failed parts with proposed solutionsAssist in the development of manufacturing procedures and technical work instructionsParticipate in design and document reviews for diagnosticsSupport DOA Root Cause AnalysisContribute to cycle time and labor hours roadmap implementationSupport PFMEA activitiesRead and interpret optical, mechanical, and electrical drawingsApply knowledge of Code-V and/or ZemaxUtilize MATLAB, LabVIEW, and PythonWillingness to provide occasional weekend coverageWork ScheduleCompressed Work Week Nights 2 (CWW N2) schedule: 6 PM to 6 AM on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other WednesdayEducation and ExperienceBachelor of Science in Optical Engineering or Applied Physics required (Master of Science in either major preferred)2+ years of optical engineering experience with the specific BS degree, or 0+ years with the specific MS degreeWorking knowledge of diverse optical metrology setups: interferometers, Shack–Hartmann sensors, polarimetry/ellipsometry, and optical alignmentUnderstanding of geometric optics, wave optics, Gaussian propagation, and aberration theoryExperience with image/signal/data processing algorithms, statistics, and software developmentFamiliarity with epoxy application in opto-mechanical designsHands-on experience with optical assembly, alignment, test equipment, and toolsKnowledge of lasers, polarization, detectors, electro-optical devices, and opto-mechanical constructionsExperience in a high-tech production environment with complex processesExposure to Lean Manufacturing principlesFamiliarity with optical-electrical sensors is a plusExperience with technical production engineering and quality methodologies such as SPC and FMEA is a plusWorking knowledge of NX, Teamcenter, and SAP is a plusSkillsAbility to interface with multidisciplinary groups, including senior leadershipStrong sense of ownership and commitment to timely resultsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsFocus on quality and continuous improvementProven team player with strong interpersonal skillsOther informationThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
