- Is an owner of technical Range requirements for the D5LE2 program who supports major reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR), leads requirements tailoring efforts, provides technical recommendations to aid in making critical decisions, and supports various other activities to support the overall D5LE2 development.
- Works closely with D5LE2 Responsible Systems Engineers (RSEs), Certified Principal Engineers (CPEs) and requirements specification authors to ensure Range requirements are appropriately allocated and understood.
- Understands program-unique requirements and processes to ensure the D5LE2 system meets Range requirements throughout the lifecycle.
- Support the technical integrity of the D5LE2 system in concert with other Systems Integrators.
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of the Range requirements within the given scope to support D5LE2 system development efforts.
- Supports FBM program leadership by identifying and communicating potential risks related to Range Safety.
- Experience with one or more systems engineering functions including:
b) Requirements development
c) System trade studies, CONOPS, and/or system modeling
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment, tackle various assignments, and interface with numerous peers as part of the daily program operations
- DoD Top Secret Security Clearance; US Citizenship required
- Knowledge of flight tests, Range Safety, or Range requirements (e.g., RCC-319)
- Familiarity with risk management processes
- Strong presentation skills, agile speaker who can effectively brief audiences from different backgrounds and/or with varying technical knowledge
- Team player with demonstrated ability to participate in cross functional teams to achieve common goals
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for execution on an inflexible schedule, often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data
- Working knowledge of complex missile or launch vehicle systems, missile or launch vehicle subsystems, including Electronics, Structures, Controls, Propulsion, Initiation, Reentry etc.
- General understanding of missile or launch vehicle design/assembly
- General knowledge of support equipment and operational procedures for missiles or launch vehicles
- Experience ensuring the physical and functional compatibility of hardware products throughout the full life cycle of the program
- Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) or Delegate CPE for electronics packages or similar and Engineering Material Review (EMRB) experience; ability to interact with hardware CPEs and designers to ensure mission requirements are satisfied
- Proven track record of good judgment and programmatic execution vital to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget obligations
- Knowledge of the Submarine Launch Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Strategic Weapon System
- Knowledge of Trident II (D5LE) Missile System design and operation, and interfaces to the Reentry System
- Experience with development of new missile systems and corresponding mechanical and electrical ground support equipment
- Knowledge of D5LE missile processing, wharf operations and In-Tube Conversion procedures
- Experience in working with FBM Navy customer organization (Strategic Systems Program), including the Missile Branch, Reentry Branch and contractor support activity
- Ability to act as interface with Navy on Fleet and Facility support issues relating to the Trident II (D5) Missile
