As Associate Legal Counsel, you will work directly with the company’s sales, R&D, product and operations teams to advise on new features and product planning as well as implementation and execution. This role will report directly to the General Counsel.About the role
  • Advise and lead cross-functional teams on the development, launch and growth of Equitybee products
  • Associate Legal Counsel our sales, operations, product, engineering and executive teams throughout the product life cycle on applicable legal and regulatory contexts and boundaries
  • Anticipate and find legal and regulatory risks and propose creative and effective solutions to address risks
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements in support of product initiatives
  • Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, private placement, investment, broker-dealer and privacy laws and regulations to ensure an ongoing ability to give sound regulatory advice
  • Partner with the rest of the Legal & Compliance team to share information about regulatory changes and product development to help support across the team
Requirements
  • Attorney with a J.D., top academic credentials and admission to the California bar or registered as in-house Associate Legal Counsel
  • Emerging Companies, Venture Capital, and Fund and/or Trust Formation and Administration experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience at a top law firm or as in house or in a key regulatory agency
  • Exposure to and comfort with regulatory complexity and opacity in financial technology, investment funds and/or financial services
  • Experience supporting product development in a regulated industry
  • Strong substantive knowledge of U.S. securities rules and regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment, meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively across the company
  • Experience working with and advising cross-functional business teams
  • Ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely and to provide practical, succinct and purposeful legal advice
  • Outstanding business judgment, communication and people skills
  • Excellent writing and legal drafting skills and a passion for conveying complex ideas in accessible prose
