- You will design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software for STARS Database Management System (DMS) and related tools.
- You will update software design, testing, and documentation in alignment with FAA and STARS standards.
- You will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to solve complex technical issues.
- You will contribute to safety-critical systems that operate in real time and impact millions of air travelers.
- You will follow structured programming practices using C in a Unix/Linux environment.
- You will collaborate in Agile-style workflows with configuration and change control tools.
- How air traffic control systems operate and are modernized to improve national airspace safety.
- How to apply rigorous testing and documentation practices in a government contracting environment.
- How to contribute to the next generation of airspace automation used by the FAA.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience with full software development lifecycle in C
- Experience in Unix/Linux environments
- Familiarity with databases/SQL (preferably Oracle)
- Experience with STARS or other Air Traffic Control systems
- Familiarity with Java, Perl, Python, and scripting languages (bash/ksh)
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like ClearCase
- Exposure to Red Hat Linux, J2EE/.NET, JavaScript, HTML, XML
- Experience with software validation and test conduct
- Ability to quickly learn new tools, processes, or systems
