
Aviation Area Manager

- Be responsible for technical practice and operational management of one or multiple offices or operating units within the West Region
- Determine and execute strategic direction of the offices/subunits to ensure financial profitability
- Work with the Division Manager who is responsible for the overall management of the region to ensure financial success of the offices/units within the region.
- Build client relationships within the aviation marketplace. Develop into being a trusted lead with clients' needs as they arise.
- Meeting with clients and developing relationships on coordinated marketing visits. Coordinate and collaborate with client or pursuit champions (MSL, BDM, xBLs, CAMs) on all visits.
- Develop and lead the plan and strategy to further AECOM relationships with the FAA Regional and Airports District Offices within respective Area.
- Be a contributor to the MSL and BDM Industry engagement plan and strategy. Attend events and conferences (as well as other organizations and conferences), as well as eventually serving on committees designated by the chapter(s).
- Provide and organize client presentations and lesson learned activities.
- Be a contributor to the MSL and BDM local partner engagement plan and strategy. Engage with local marketplace with MWDBE partners through regular meetings or planned AECOM events.
- Collaborate regularly with the MSL and BDM to update pipeline, pursuit tracking, and data integrity in Salesforce.
- Lead technical and price proposals for projects within the area. Serve as a technical contributor to MSL or BDM when not the Capture Manager or Project Manager for pursuit.
- Lead and/or participate in pursuit GO/NO-GO meetings, coalescing the multiple business line/sector interests to achieve the appropriate business decision.
- Performing a wide array of aviation-related civil design, planning, construction support, and client management services for General Aviation and Commercial Air Service Airports
- Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of small and large multi-discipline projects involving design of airport engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, vehicle service roads, airfield lighting and signage installation, navigational aids, drainage improvements, utility relocation and protection, and pavement rehabilitation.
- Supervision, coordination, and production of several projects concurrently.
- Builds and maintains positive client relationships.
- Involved in marketing/business development including ability to market and win work.
- Coordinate staffing plan and workload though the entire project development duration while meeting project schedules and budgets.
- Control overall project cost and scope, schedule, and quality of work.
- Implement project QA/QC and work with Finance & Accounting, Controller, Department Manager, or Managing Principles for project reviews.
- Preparation of engineering design reports, project definition documents, construction plans, and contract documents / technical specifications
- Coordination with clients, funding agencies, FAA and local permit agencies.
- Recommendations for and Recruiting Staff - Seek out and obtain recommendations for potential new staff (all levels and practices) toward promoting growth at AECOM.
- Culture Leadership - Connect with staff routinely to provide a sense of inclusion. Maintain connectivity with staff at other AECOM offices in the west region and beyond.
- Growth - Support the MSL, BDM, CAMS, in the growth, strategy, and sale of AECOM's services to the Aviation sector, including key strategic customers and partners West Region.
- Market Sector / Business Line Coordination - Participate in monthly calls with the other business lines and market sector leaders in the region to ensure strategic business growth for the area/subregion.
- Relationship Building - Builds strong relationships and interacts with clients, teaming partners, industry groups, and stakeholders linked to the Aviation industry, serving as an ambassador for AECOM. Maintain a log of touches with a database of pertinent information associated with potential project intelligence.
- Client Account Management - May serve as a client account manager in various forms. It includes developing and building teams to serve our clients across multiple business. Create internal governance for team decisions and lead charge in engaging clients.
- Capture Planning - Support drawing on technical expertise and directs the development of capture plans that conform to the business development strategy and technical capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience in operational leadership for at least 2 years and business development, along with strong existing relationships with Aviation clients in the United States.
- Strong understanding of best practices in operational leadership and business development for professional services
- Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate problems clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff
- Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.
