OrganizationCenter for Recreational SportsJob ResponsibilitiesOversee all safety and compliance related functions of the Club Sports program:
  • Certification and training compliance:
  • Manage all mandatory trainings and certifications for Club Sports student athletes and coaches and ensure all clubs are in compliance.
  • Ensure National Governing Body (NGB) membership and requirements are submitted and followed.
  • Ensure club rosters are up to date.
  • Ensure all financial certifications/trainings are completed.
  • Ensure driver certifications/ approvals are completed.
  • Safety and liability protocol management:
  • Securing temp Athletic Trainer (AT) coverage for on/off campus home events.
  • Implement and oversee an inclement weather emergency action plan for home and away contests and practices.
  • Documenting and approving all club travel plans.
  • Ensure club rosters are up to date.
  • Ensure sport programs are in accordance with County, State and National Guidelines.
  • Oversight of participant injury reporting and return to play clearance.
  • Participation waiver management.
  • Collection of photo/video liability release waivers.
Management of the Club Sports program and oversight of club operations:
  • Program oversight:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Club Sports program and development of future trainings and services as necessary.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of program assessment.
  • Assist with Student Activity Fee fund allocation.
  • Assist with review and approval of new club sport applications.
  • Keep all Club Sports website and handbook information up to date.
  • Assist with development of Club Sports governing policies and practices.
  • Document participant or staff management issues and discuss assignment of potential disciplinary outcomes with Associate Director.
  • Manage 2-4 Student Staff Compliance Assistants.
  • Provide direct oversight of student employee handbooks.
  • Equipment, facilities and software management:
  • Documenting and approving facility scheduling requests for practices and games.
  • Perform annual physical inventory process.
  • Coordinate equipment inventory repair and provide recommendations to Associate Director and Financial Assistant for procurement.
  • Manage club sport storage solutions.
  • Oversee relevant Club Sports management software, websites and applications.
Marketing and Communications:
  • Assist with providing content to various media outlets and social channels both within and outside of the department and Division of Student Affairs to aid in the story telling of the program and the university's brand recognition.
  • Maintenance of Club Sports handbook, branding guidelines and other operational or policy based materials.
  • Communicate with sport clubs regarding branding guidelines.
Other:
  • Collaborate and communicate with RIT operating units both inside and outside of Student Wellness.
  • Collaborate and communicate with external club sports, intramurals and recreation professionals.
  • Attend and assist with Center for Recreational Sports, Student Wellness, and Student Affairs Divisional meetings and events as scheduled.
  • Participate in professional development activities pertinent to the role.
  • Occasional nights and weekends may be required for program supervision.

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation & Leisure Management, Athletic Administration or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 Years of professional experience administering a college club sport, intramural, camp, clinic and/or program, including experience managing staff, programming and special events.
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and electronic communications skills.
  • Ability to convey complex information with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups.
  • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office and enterprise systems in support of functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the following applications: CampusGroups, FusionIM, IMLeagues, Kronos, Humanity, SIS.
  • Experience officiating.
  • ASL skills or willingness to learn.

The Program Coordinator will have a direct role in the day-to-day management of the Club Sports program, with primary responsibilities focused on participant safety, club compliance and policy enforcement. The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with The Center for Campus Life and University Risk Management to ensure safe and effective operations of our 50+ club sports. Through regular training and continued development opportunities, the Program Coordinator will increase the overall knowledge and skills of the student club officers and coaches to ensure we continue to offer a safe, meaningful and impactful program.
