- Maintain all aspects of the Student Information Systems including installation, configuration, upgrades, monitoring performance metrics, and backups/restores, ensuring data accuracy through regular audits and validation processes. Implement security measures that protect sensitive student information in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Oversee integration between SIS applications and other educational tools or platforms used within the region (e.g., Learning Management Systems) and provide technical support to staff regarding Academic applications. Conduct training sessions for end-users to ensure effective use of systems.
- In partnership with the Director, Technology, work closely with administrators, teachers, IT staff, and other stakeholders to gather requirements for system enhancements or modifications, as well as diagnose and efficiently resolve any technical issues related to the SIS while minimizing disruption to academic activities.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation regarding system configurations and procedures. Generate reports as needed for administrative decision-making.
- Manage software updates including testing new features before deployment across the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred; Current certifications in various educational applications, preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a System Administrator or similar role within an educational environment, knowledge of Federal and State Education regulations (e.g. COPPA, FERPA, NYS ED 2-D) and/or state-specific reporting requirements for student information systems, highly preferred
- Strong understanding of K–12 Student Information Systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Dean’s List, Illuminate, Clever, SchoolMint).
- Proficient in database management (SQL, Oracle, etc.) and data analytics tools.
- Experience with cybersecurity principles related to educational institutions (FERPA, HIPPA, Ed 2-D).
- Knowledge of backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and data migration strategies.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g.Python, PowerShell, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
- A strong sense of awareness and understanding of security protocols regarding the handling and protection of student data
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating initiative and independence as needed.
