- Serve as a design team leader and use various software to prepare reports, contract plans, specifications, and estimates for highway projects
- Use a computer to evaluate field data and/or survey data to determine quantities, elevations, coordinates, grades, and curve data.
- Prepare design-build contract procurement documents.
- Serve as a lead project inspector administering small and large-scale construction projects.
- Develop site and work specific pre-activity safety plans in advance of construction inspection activities.
- Perform quality verification inspection of construction activities, auditing compliance with contract plans, specifications, permits, and commitments.
- Prepare Inspector Daily Reports, project records, and photographically document work activities and contract issues.
- Check that permanent contract materials are only being placed with prior approval and perform audits to check that materials are being sampled and tested according to contract requirements.
- Measure and record materials quantities, visually inspect material installations on project sites, provide material testing and communicate these findings with the Contractor and Office Engineer.
- Review project progress and prepare field notes and other pay notes so that payment can be made in a timely manner for completed contract work.
- Coordinate with the contractor's representatives regarding schedule and clarify questions pertaining to contract documents.
