CNA/EMT Dual Role
Department: Acute Care/ER/EMS FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: AC/ER Director of Nursing/EMS CoordinatorPosition Summary:The CNA/EMT is a dual position that brings a team approach towards patient care in both the pre-hospital and hospital settings. Pre-hospital, the CNA/EMT will carry out all directives given to him/her by the EMS Coordinator and Medical Director in conjunction with their scope of practice. The CNA/EMT will support patient care by providing personal hygiene, daily living needs, and patient monitoring within their scope of practice under the direction of the Acute Care/ER Director of Nursing, EMS Coordinator and unit supervisors.Essential Functions
Operates and maintains ambulances in accordance with Wyoming state laws and Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD)EMS policy and procedures.
Assists in patient care in accordance with CCMSD EMS policy and procedure.
Effectively and actively assesses his/her abilities and requests assistance as necessary for safe patient care.
Attends and participates in at least 80% of all department meetings and in-service training.
Maintains a focus on education to include timely recertification's CCMSD required education, and other opportunities of higher-level education.
Provides residents'/patients' personal hygiene by providing bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths.
Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning/repositioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Provides additional care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wyoming Board of Nursing.
Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; obtaining urine and fecal specimens; recording intake and output information.
Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering residents'/patients' call lights and requests; reporting observations of the patient to charge nurse.
Documents appropriately in EHR and completes additional forms, reports, and logs as needed.
Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
Keeps patient information confidential.
Serves and protects Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD) community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures and federal, state, and local requirements.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations; maintaining licensure.
Enhances nursing department and CCMSD's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Other duties may be assigned.Qualifications
■Minimum age of 21.
■Have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record ensuring the ability to be CCMSD vehicle insured.Education
■EMTs must maintain a current National Registry EMT and WY-EMS license.■ICS 100, 200 and 700 certified within 30 days of employment.■Current BLS■Preferred PHTLS■EMT's must enroll in a CNA class and obtain Wyoming CNA License within 12 months of hire, or first available class.
  • Maintain CNA License every 2 years
■CNAs must enroll in an EMT course and obtain their EMT License within 12 months of hire, or first available class.
  • Maintain a current National Registry EMT upon completion of EMT course.
■Complete Annual / Biannual Education and Competencies
  • OSHA
  • Approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course
