- Reads and evaluates reports from research companies to maintain knowledge of market trends and to gain insight into managers' strategies.
- Conducts on-site investment manager visits with WRS Investment Officers and attends pertinent industry conferences.
- Assists the Senior Investment Team on annual manager review, monitoring of investment performance, and risk monitoring of the assigned asset class. Analyzes research on various managers and investment strategies.
- Develop detailed reports and presentations in response to ad hoc project requests required for executing the mission of the Investment Department.
- Assists in the development and compilation of WRS Board Meeting investment-related materials.
- Works with Investment Officers to conduct due diligence on existing and prospective managers of the system. Produces independent, quantifiable recommendations supported by this research
- Provides guidance and assists in the training of Investment Analyst roles and Interns. Assists in the onboarding of new analysts and provides them with job tools and agency overview.
- Broad knowledge of investment instruments across all asset classes including a thorough understanding of financial markets concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of equity and fixed income security analysis and valuation techniques.
- General computer literacy including advanced Excel skills and proficiency in word processing and presentation software packages.

- Knowledge of investment characteristics and economic drivers of common investments.
- Technical expertise for the assigned asset class.

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance, Business, or Economics)Experience:
3+ years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance, Business, or Economics) with the acquired knowledge of an AnalystCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Passage of Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program and/or MBA (or Master's Degree in a related field of study)Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office setting
- Some travel will be required for board meetings, conferences, and due diligence trips.
- FLSA: Exempt
- Hiring will be contingent upon the successful passage of a background check.
- Statutory authority allows for a maximum monthly salary of up to $9,300 per month for this position.
- This position is eligible for performance compensation (WY Stat ยง 9-3-406) of up to 35% of base salary, depending on total portfolio return relative to the benchmark.
- This position is At-Will and is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the CIO.
