- Guide and nurture the professional growth of the ore control geology team, providing mentorship and training to enhance their skills. Establish and manage individual development plans for team members.
- Validate and verify the work conducted by the Ore Control geology team to uphold the accuracy and reliability of geological data and interpretations.
- Collaborate with the operations group to develop material routing strategies, particularly focusing on addressing geometallurgical challenges to optimize processing efficiency.
- Uphold a culture of safety excellence by demonstrating visible leadership, empowering employees with the authority to stop work when necessary and implementing comprehensive safety initiatives.
- Foster and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with essential internal departments such as Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Exploration, Safety, and Finance to ensure effective communication and alignment of goals.
- Conduct end-of-month and site reconciliation report, meticulously identifying discrepancies and devising practical solutions to address them, thus minimizing production variances.
- Contribute valuable insights to the formulation of Life of Mine Plans by conducting comprehensive risk and opportunity assessments, thereby contributing strategic decision-making LOM.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the geology department, actively seeking out opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
- Conduct rigorous validation of block models to ensure accuracy and reliability of geological data for operational and planning purposes.
- Engage closely with the corporate Technical Service team on various projects and the Life of Mine (LOM) plan, fostering synergy and alignment between technical functions and corporate objectives.
- Oversee and manage laboratory Ore Control samples quality assurance and quality control processes, ensuring the integrity and reliability of analytical results.
- Define and control the minex drilling program, ensuring its effective execution, and maintaining regular communication with the exploration team to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
- General understanding of mining operations.
- Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team.
- Must possess strong soft skills and have the ability to lead and develop a team.
- Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Strong technical skills in geology are required.
- Must have strong geologic, geotechnical, and structural mapping skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point is required.
- Knowledge of Access, Acquire, and OrePro 3D is desirable.
- Knowledge of the use of mining software is required, preferably Vulcan.
- Bachelor’s degree in geologic or related sciences is required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ mine experience in geologic.
- An understanding of geologic resource modeling is beneficial.
- Ability to prioritize work in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be equipped with critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Requires valid driver’s license.
