Maintains competence in all routine histology procedures (e.g., embedding, sectioning, and routine automated staining) and advanced histology procedures (e.g., immunohistochemistry and histochemical staining); routine maintenance; slide/stain quality control; and basic troubleshooting. Duties may include receiving, preparing, archiving and/or retrieving specimen/material; preparing and or stocking department supplies and reagents; performing quality assurance tasks; producing frozen sections from specimens; and conducting training for routine histology practices.Job Description:EDUCATION
HS Diploma: High School Diploma or General Education (GED)TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
1 year recent relevant experience.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEKnowledge/Skills: Demonstrated advanced knowledge and technical competence in specimen collection and preparation, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in histology.Quantity of Work: Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected time-frames.Quality of Work: Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks. Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving relevant to assigned duties.Culturally Competent Communication: Ability to compassionately and effectively interact individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors.Workflow Management: Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume, unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failures, shift-to-shift hand-offs, priority test orders, and specimen integrity issues.Adherence to Practices & Procedures: Ability to follow standard practices, processes, and procedures in sequence.
