
Engineering Designer II

- Develops design solutions for assigned structural products and components.
- Interacts with engineering staff on design concepts and progress.
- May be assigned design responsibility for a major portion of a project or program.
- Develop layouts, sketches, and blueprints and may investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling.
- Details related to structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices.
- Validates conformity to design standards and specifications and identifies design errors and other deficiencies and recommends changes.
- Provides documentation, identifies design issues, and makes technical design presentations to engineering staff and customers as required.
- Remains current in CAD techniques and any applicable state-of-the-art engineering design software applications.
- May direct the activities of less experienced designers and support staff.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
- Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in NX, Creo Parametric (ProEngineer) or CATIA design software plus ten or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least two of those years spent utilizing NX or Creo Parametric (ProEngineer) engineering design software. Additional education may be substituted in lieu of work experience.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering design concepts and principles and possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, applying them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Must be able to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases.
- Must also be able to determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have good communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and excellent computer skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
- Desirable Qualifications:
- Current DOD Security Clearance is preferred.
