
Engineering Designer II

- Develops design solutions for assigned structural products and components.
- Interact closely with engineering staff to refine design concepts and track progress.
- Take ownership of design responsibility for significant portions of projects.
- Develop solid models, layouts, sketches, and drawings of parts and assemblies, and may investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling.
- Participate in design reviews and integrate feedback from engineering analysis, test results, and customer input.
- Support configuration control through proper use of PLM tools (Windchill, Teamcenter).
- Details related structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices.
- Validates conformity to design standards and specifications and identifies design errors and other deficiencies, and recommends changes.
- Provides documentation, identifies design issues, and makes technical design presentations to engineering staff and customers as required.
- Working knowledge of CAD techniques and any applicable engineering design software applications and design standards such as ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), MIL- STD-100.
- May direct the activities of less experienced designers and support staff.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.
- Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in (NX/Siemens, ProEngineer/CREO, or SOLIDWORKS) design software plus ten or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least two of those years spent utilizing (NX/Siemens, ProEngineer/CREO, or SOLIDWORKS) engineering design software. Additional education may be substituted in lieu of work experience.
- Strong command of Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Windchill and Teamcenter.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering design concepts and principles and possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, applying them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Must be able to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases.
- Must also be able to determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems. Skilled in problem-solving, with the ability to develop solutions.
- Must have good communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and excellent computer skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be able to work extended hours occasionally as required.
