- Provide strategic guidance on design for manufacturability and process scalability.
- Collaborate with internal and external mold designers and toolmakers to ensure optimal mold design for manufacturability, efficiency, and part quality.
- Oversee mold qualification, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Provide expert guidance on material selection and characterization for injection molded components.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging Envista Business System (EBS).
- Manage capital projects and provide technical leadership in equipment selection and justification.
- Develop and enforce engineering standards, documentation, and training programs.
- Collaborate with leadership to align engineering initiatives with business objectives.
- Diagnose and resolve complex molding issues, including defects, process inconsistencies, and equipment malfunctions, utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Represent the engineering function in audits, customer meetings, and strategic planning sessions.
- Act as a technical lead for injection molding aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, from concept through new production launch including DFM analysis, risk assessment, and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Lead the development, optimization, and validation of robust injection molding processes for new and existing products. This includes establishing optimal processing parameters, cycle times, and quality control measures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. Share expertise and best practices within the organization.
- Project management task such as meeting schedule agenda, minute follow-up on assigned task.
- Regular reporting of progress to the engineering team, both verbally and through written reports.
- Maintain and revises Engineering Document (ECR), generate (SOP), Manufacturing Control Instructions (MCI)
- Establishes, modifies, implements, and monitors systems and procedures to enhance timely and efficient workflow.
- Perform investigation on Material Review Disposition Record (MRDR) and apply countermeasure to eliminate root cause for failed parts.
- Ensures all molding processes and products comply with relevant industry standards, quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- May require travel up to 10%
- Perform any duties or tasks assigned by Manager.
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year university in engineering or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in injection molding processes, tooling, and production support.
- Extensive experience in class A mold design principles.
- Extensive experience using SolidWorks for mechanical design and 3D modeling.
- Proficiency in design for manufacturability (DFM) principles for injection molded parts.
- English/Spanish bilingual.
- Experience with Metal Injection Molding processes in medical device/dental manufacturing.
- Experience with simulation software (e.g., Moldflow, SolidWorks Plastics) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with automation and robotics in injection molding.
