We strive to be the company of choice for our employees, clients, and stakeholders and have earned dozens of awards for project excellence, safety performance and as a best place to work.To learn more about Conti Civil, LLC. visitWhat we are looking for:The role of the Project Accounting Manager-Southeast is to ensure the financial health and performance of project(s) by overseeing Project Accountants in the Southeast region, guiding financial planning and analysis, and ensuring disciplined adherence to budget and forecasting processes. This role will lead efforts in job cost forecasting, cash flow management, billing and collections, change order controls, compliance auditing, and financial reporting. The Project Accounting Manager will serve as a strategic partner to the Project Management Team and executive leadership, identifying risks and driving proactive financial decision-making. This position requires regular travel to various jobsites to support and review project financial performance and ensure consistent execution across teams.Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Project Accountants to ensure completion of financial processes and delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Set expectations, provide training, and ensure adherence to measurable objectives for Project Accounting team.
  • Oversee preparation and accuracy of quarterly project forecasts and job cost reports to support effective business decisions by management.
  • Oversee the cash flow forecast process to project and manage billings, costs, and percentage of completion metrics.
  • Oversee the initial budget download process and ensure budgets are maintained, updated, and communicated to project teams for change orders and project revisions.
  • Ensure all billing invoices are submitted on time with appropriate documentation to facilitate quick payment from owners.
  • Oversee timely and accurate cost capture for change orders; support pricing, submission, and billing in coordination with the project team.
  • Monitor accounts receivable performance and lead collection strategy discussions with project teams.
  • Ensure project teams track and document quantities, maintain daily logs, and perform monthly reconciliations with complete accuracy and detail.
  • Ensure subcontractor documentation is received, reviewed, and executed in compliance with subcontract terms prior to payment processing.
  • Confirm that all project-related invoices are processed in the correct accounting period or accrued by the accounting team to support an accurate monthly close.
  • Oversee resolution of payroll related issues across project teams in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that all required compliance reporting is completed accurately and submitted on time; including minority participation, affirmative action, and EEO documentation.
  • Review client contracts for key financial sections, including invoice requirements, submission, payment terms, sales tax requirements, extra work billing, and change management clauses.
  • Ensure the weekly Billing and Collections and Watch the Cost huddles are conducted following the standard agenda to provide accurate and actionable data to the project teams and drive accountability.
  • Review weekly equipment usage and charge reports and collaborate with project teams to identify variances and ensure informed cost decisions are made in real time.
  • Drive project closeout processes, ensuring timely collection and resolution of outstanding financial items and collection of retainage at each project phase.
  • Identify financial risks across projects and work with management to implement corrective actions.
  • Drive system improvements, training programs, and best practices for Project Accountants.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in construction.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing accounting or project support staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and construction ERP software.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and advanced formulas.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, decisive, and pragmatic in approach to financial decision-making.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail with a commitment to operational excellence.
