o Maintain a clear understanding of client goals, procurement processes, and long-range planning efforts.
o Monitor trends and shifts in target markets to inform strategy and maintain a competitive edge.
- Relationship Building
o Meet regularly with municipal staff and design professionals to understand upcoming needs and promote collaboration.
o Attend industry meetings, conferences, and networking events to build brand visibility and stay ahead of project announcements.
- Strategy & Planning
o Identify gaps in backlog and pursue projects that fill revenue and market presence needs with preferred clients and partners.
o Collaborate with estimating and project teams to develop client-focused pursuit strategies and pre-position for success.
- Proposal & Presentation Leadership
o Guide teams through effective client engagement, including proposal messaging, presentation coaching, and debrief participation.
- Internal Support & Reporting
o Maintain and manage customer relationship databases, including accurate CIP tracking and client activity logs.
o Provide regular updates to leadership on market status, emerging trends, and pursuit performance.
- Marketing Collaboration
o Coordinate with the marketing team on branding alignment and messaging consistency across all BD efforts.
- Industry Involvement
o Actively participate in professional organizations to enhance company visibility and thought leadership.Work Qualifications:
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction projects.
- Knowledgeable in construction equipment and governmental requirements.
- Ability to analyze market dynamics to implement competitive differentiation.
- Ability to establish rapport at all levels, boardroom to mailroom.
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Must have the ability to work long hours, some weekends, and a willingness to assume a high level of responsibility.
- Possesses a valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.
- B.A. or B.S. Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering; AND,
- 5 years engineering/construction/sales experience with at least 3 years progressive Business Development and senior management experience OR,
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as determined by the hiring manager.
