
PRN Health Information Management Technician

- Files, retrieves, and scans medical records and loose reports.
- Processes requests for medical records from walk-in, fax, and other sources.
- Answers phone, takes messages, routes calls appropriately, and assists with information requests.
- Operates scanning equipment to digitize documents using batch and/or document scanners.
- Monitors M Modal hold queue and Med Host auto fax daily; releases and refaxes reports as needed.
- Participates in chart assembly and analysis functions as cross-trained.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient data in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
- Communicates effectively with caregivers, patients, and visitors to ensure timely flow of information.
- Maintains equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Attends departmental meetings, in-services, and continuing education programs as required.
- Basic knowledge of medical record procedures and terminology.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and documentation.
- Proficiency in data entry and use of office equipment (scanners, fax, copier).
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)

- Three (3) to six (6) months of related experience in a healthcare setting or HIM department (Preferred)
