The Grounds Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of grounds maintenance, including supervision of the grounds crew, equipment management, and supply coordination. This role leads the development and implementation of training standards, conducts regular departmental meetings, and ensures smooth daily operations through structured start-up and closing procedures. - High school diploma required.
- 3-5 years of relevant grounds maintenance experience (turf management preferred), including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- A certificate or degree in landscape design, horticulture, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Professional certifications in groundskeeping are a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Familiarity with work order systems and scheduling software is beneficial.
- Licensing & Physical Requirements:
- Valid Florida Driver's License required; Commercial Class B license preferred.
- REQUIRED at least one of the following:
- Florida Limited Commercial Landscaping Maintenance License
- Florida Pesticide Applicator License
- Ornamental & Turfgrass Pesticide License.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to excellent guest service.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate grounds crew staff.
- Plan, schedule, and assign daily tasks and long-term projects.
- Conduct regular inspections of grounds and equipment.
- Lead daily start-up and end-of-day meetings to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain and operate all grounds-related equipment.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of sports fields, including baseball, softball, and soccer.
- Manage lawn care, tree removal, planting, spraying, and weed control.
- Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of tools, equipment, and workspaces.
- Coordinate with other departments for special events and campus clean-up projects.
- Recommend improvements to procedures and practices.
- Respond to emergency situations as required.
