JOB SUMMARYThe Workplace Violence Prevention Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training programs aimed at preventing, mitigating, and responding to workplace violence across the health system. This role ensures that all staff, including clinical and non-clinical personnel, are educated on policies, procedures, de-escalation techniques, and response protocols. The educator collaborates with safety, risk, security, HR, and clinical leaders to foster a culture of safety and respect. This role also supports the onboarding and orientation of select roles.
  • Develop and maintain a system-wide workplace violence prevention training program in compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions, including new employee onboarding, refresher courses, and specialized workshops.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to teach topics such as de-escalation techniques, threat recognition, reporting procedures, and emergency response.
  • Coordinate logistics for training delivery, including scheduling, materials, tracking attendance, and maintaining training records.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Security, HR, Behavioral Health, Nursing, Legal) to tailor training content to specific roles and departments.
  • Support post-incident debriefings and integrate lessons learned into training content.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Stay current with workplace violence prevention trends and regulatory changes; update training content accordingly.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for staff and leadership on workplace violence-related concerns.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Education, Behavioral Health, Criminal Justice, or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in training, adult education, or staff development required.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or workplace violence prevention strongly preferred.
Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and Healthcare accreditation standards related to workplace violence. * Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive topics with professionalism and empathy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS).
License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
  • Certified Strategos, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), MOAB, or other de-escalation training certification preferred.
  • AHA BLS certification required within the first 6 months of hire.
