This position demands strong organizational skills, a profound passion for education, and effective collaboration with teachers and students to enhance academic achievement through innovative library resources and programs.Reports To:PrincipalClassification:Full-Time (Certified)FLSA Status:ExemptWork Term:187Compensation:MCBOE Salary ScheduleQualifications:Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or universityProfessional teacher certificate in the area of responsibility by the Alabama State Department of Education prior to starting dateAt least three years of successful P-12 teaching experienceFingerprint clearance with the Alabama State Department of Education prior to the start dateEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Manage the school’s collection of books, periodicals, and digital resources to support curriculum needsMaintain a weekly plan for the media center, including detailed lesson plansDevelop and maintain an organized, welcoming media center conducive to learning for students of all agesCollaborate with teachers to provide resources, instructional materials, and research assistance aligned with curriculum objectivesInstruct students in media literacy, information literacy, and research skills to promote critical thinking and independent learningPromote reading and literacy through engaging programs, activities, and book recommendationsAssist students and staff in utilizing information resources effectively, including digital formatsCoordinate media center events such as author visits and book fairs to enrich the school community's learning experienceManage the media center budget, selecting and purchasing materials within allocated fundsStay informed about copyright laws, intellectual property issues, and media center policiesEnforce district policies regarding internet safety and technology securityMaintain an inventory of all approved district devices, including computers, audiovisual equipment, etc.Provide technical support and assistance to employees and students with technology and district software platformsPerforms other duties as assigned by the head football coach, school administrators, and/or district administratorsRequired Skills and Competencies:Ability to follow both oral and written directions and instructions.
