- Internal Controls & Policies – Develop, document, and improve business processes and accounting policies to maintain strong internal controls.
- Financial Close & Reporting – Manage the monthly close process, ensuring GAAP compliance, and prepare period-end, ad hoc, and stakeholder reporting, including Board and banking compliance reports.
- Revenue & Cash Management – Oversee revenue tracking, invoicing, deferred/unbilled revenue, cash forecasting, and ensure operational obligations are fully funded.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable – Manage payables review, payment scheduling, accrual reconciliations, and oversee receivables analysis, allowances, and write-offs.
- Payroll & Compliance – Coordinate payroll processing, tax filings, and other regulatory compliance with external advisors and PEOs.
- Audit & Technical Accounting – Lead annual audits, prepare consolidated financial statements, and provide guidance on complex accounting issues, including ASC 606.
- Planning & Systems Support – Partner on budgeting, forecasting, M&A due diligence, and strategy for system implementations to support business scalability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years of startup experience at a Controller or similar level
- Expert knowledge of US-GAAP and best practices for internal controls
- Understanding of US tax codes and laws
- Formal accounting accreditation (CPA/CMA) required
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel and modeling
- Prior experience in public accounting
- Preferred, not required: Familiarity with IFRS and/or Non-US GAAP
- Preferred tools (not mandatory): Salesforce CRM, Bill.com, Avalara (Avatax), QuickBooks Online
- Nice to have: Experience with system implementations (Accounting ERPs, BI platforms, FP&A tools)
