- Develop conceptual designs, execution plans, cost estimates, and project schedules for project proposals.
- Work with customers to develop project and site-specific design scope documents
- Lead in the execution of engineering activities such as:
- Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material
- Protection and control design including panel arrangements, one lines/single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries, equipment wiring and relay panel wiring
- Calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lightning protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
- Equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
- Lead coordination of design activities with other groups (Civil/Structural, SCADA, System Protection, Transmission Line, etc.)
- Lead process, tools and/or technology implementations
- Develop and provide training to less experienced engineers and team members
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
- Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers
- Perform 3rd party quality reviews of designs performed by others
- Provide input into employee performance reviews
- Provide short term field support during construction
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
- Participate in industry events or professional technical committees
- All other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from accredited program
- Minimum 15 years related experience
- Professional Engineer registration required
- Proficiency with National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standard
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures and criteria
- Successful completion of the EPS Quality Manual Training Program
- Up to 20% travel required
