  • Develop and progress the VCA California Veterinary Specialists training program to advance the knowledge of new associates, as well as current team members looking to grow their roles
  • Encourage a culture of learning within the hospital consistent with the mission, vision, and values of VCA California Veterinary Specialists, Carlsbad.
  • Create a training schedule for all new associates including pairing with department mentors and rotating through multiple departments within the hospital to gain skills/knowledge relevant to hired role.
  • Guide and develop Mentors within the technical team by providing training and development on individual teaching techniques and skills.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors and technical staff to develop individual goals for career advancement within the hospital.
  • Organize, schedule, and provide CE for the technical staff based on the needs of the hospital at a given time to provide ongoing training of current associates.
  • Facilitate, organize, and oversee Veterinary Assistant & Technician Externships through local college outreach, communication with the school’s Program Director, and providing information/paperwork as required by the school
  • Autonomously manage your time between on-the-floor mentoring and dedicated time in setting strategy to develop nursing care teams.
  • Divide time with roughly 75% of time providing direct training and 25% of time on administrative/organizational work.
