A Controls Engineer is required for the design, detail, and program of motor controls. All design work is to be completed on Autodesk AutoCAD or EPlan. The ideal candidate for this position will have a thorough understanding of motor control and panel design. The successful candidate will have worked with motor controls, and processes and assisted in their development and maintenance along with controls programming. This position will have the opportunity to grow through design, engineering and manufacturing of motor controls.Although the chosen candidate will focus primarily on PLC programming, controls design and support, there will be considerable opportunity to develop skills in every aspect of the manufacturing engineering including customer support, purchasing, product assembly, as well as debug, installation, and service. Travel is not a significant part of the anticipated task load; however, some may be required.Desired Skills and ExperienceKnowledge of AutoCAD is required with an emphasis on control panel design and layout. Willingness to work with all aspects of project from initial customer contact to conceptualization and design, to implementation and commissioning are required. Being able to prosper and function in a team environment is essential.Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in an engineering or panel shop environment developing PLC code from scratch, generating wire diagrams and commissioning control panel layouts
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoDesk AutoCAD is required. Thorough knowledge of motor controls and motor control layouts
  • Experience designing and programming control systems with emphasis on PLCs, SCADA or HMI systems is a plus. TIA Portal/Rockwell programming is required
  • Experience with control system networking technologies and OSI Layer 2 networks a plus. Ethernet IP/Profibus/Profinet and Modbus TCP
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the National Electric Ode (NEC), UL, related safety codes and international standards
  • Support installations and field service as needed, test and troubleshoot panels during prototyping and build
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work with plant engineers, external vendors, operators and management to manage projects and assignments is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience in oil and gas, water/wastewater, and irrigation a plus.
EducationBachelor's degree in engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 2-year associates degree and minimum of three (3) years experienceor Minimum five (5) years experience in lieu of a degreeExperience
  • Two (2) years minimum in control design for motor controls systems
  • Electrical schematic design, PLC programming, familiarity with Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC hardware/software is required
  • Must have excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
