Job Title: Test Lab Engineering ManagerLocation: Omaha, NebraskaSalary: $110-130K plus bonusJob Summary of the Test Lab Engineering Manager: The Test Lab Engineering Manager’s primary role is overseeing testing operations and managing a team of test engineers and technicians to ensure projects stay on schedule. This hands-on position involves collaborating with various teams to complete validation projects, conduct tests, build prototypes, and maintain testing equipment.Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Test Lab Engineering Manager:Provide direction and support to the test lab team, ensuring tasks are prioritized effectively and overseeing the entire testing process.Lead the test lab team, offering expertise on data acquisition, analysis, and reporting to drive successful testing outcomes.Ensure compliance with documentation standards as per ISO guidelines and maintain Certified Test Facility standards.Generate detailed test reports and uphold record-keeping practices in alignment with company quality policies.Develop and implement standardized test protocols and procedures for various testing requirements.Participate in research and development initiatives, design experiments, and analyze test results to drive product improvements.Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), working towards enhancing testing quality and efficiency continuously.Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and contribute to warranty evaluations and root cause analyses for effective solutions.Engage in on-site inspections for large projects and provide support for commissioning activities as needed.Collaborate with the engineering leadership to align activities across different engineering teams and departments.Provide budgetary information to support testing requirements for various projects and customer needs.Demonstrate expertise in interpreting regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA to ensure compliance.Supervise and guide a team of Test Engineers and Test Technicians in their daily activities.Education & Experience Requirements of the Test Lab Engineering Manager:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in managing technical teams, such as engineering managers or supervisors.
  • Proficiency in data acquisition systems and analysis, with a sound understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical validation processes, including strain gauging, vibration analysis, and temperature monitoring.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while ensuring timely completion.
  • Experience with ISO 17025 certified test facilities and regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Ability to interpret test requirements, mechanical/electrical drawings, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Skilled in developing tests, procedures, and reports to maintain quality standards.
